55 households donated items of waste at Creekmoor Win on Waste held at Creekmoor Library on Saturday 12 May and these will be helping 12 good causes. The top item donated was newspapers/junk mail/magazines with 20 carrier bags. These will help Dorset Community Foundation with their fundraising.
Wimborne Win on Waste had a stand at the Douch 50+ event at the Allendale Centre on 9 May and it was great to be able to tell the Mayor and Town Crier of Wimborne all about our project. In addition 70 other visitors to the event also stopped to chat. Here’s hoping that we’ll be seeing them at our next Win on Waste session on 2 June.
Two Win on Waste sessions are being run on Saturday 12 May: Canford Heath 10-11am at the Coffee House Cafe and 11.30-12.30 Creekmoor Win on Waste at Creekmoor Library. Come and join us and help good causes with items from your waste.
Wimborne Library hosted another Wimborne Win on Waste on Saturday 5 May. Altogether 49 households donated 19 carrier bags of waste which will now be helping 15 good causes.
Another great turnout from Broadstone households. Altogether 51.5 bags of waste were donated by 112 households at Broadstone Win on Waste, Broadstone Library on Saturday 5 May. The waste will now help 12 good causes.
We received items from 44 households at Parkstone Win on Waste on Saturday 28 April at Parkstone Library. These items of waste including foil, milk bottle tops, stamps, fruit nets, wrapping paper, biscuit wrappers, Tassimo coffee discs and other items which will be helping 12 good causes.
Thanks to Point2Point Transport Ltd of Verwood the equivalent of 71 carrier bags of used Tassimo coffee discs are now on their way to Terracycle for recycling. It was great to hear that Point2Point came 9th in the Terracycle collector league of Tassimo discs last year which earned £1,200 to be shared between two hospitals. 
Well done to the 35 people who donated at Kinson Library’s Win on Waste session in the run up to Earth Day this month. Altogether they donated the following items: four carrier bags of milk bottle tops, one bag of stamps, two bags of biros/felt tips etc, three bags of cleaning items, two of beauty products and one bag of jigsaw puzzle pieces. We are launching a new project: Win on Waste on Wheels and we need a Co-ordinator. Could it be you?
Do you like the idea of combining your passion for recycling with befriending older housebound people in Poole? We are looking for someone like you who will co-ordinate this innovative pilot project. Working with a small team of volunteers you will visit older people in their own homes to collect items of waste (requested by good causes) from them.
The role will be on a one-year fixed term contract with a salary of £1,080 for 90 hours (average of 7.5 hours per month).
