Hamworthy Evening Townswomen’s Guild

Monique was delighted to be invited to the meeting of Hamworthy Evening Townswomen’s Guild on Friday 17 March 2017 to speak about Ideas2Action and also to judge their model-making competition. Members of the TG brought along a selection of items to donate to good causes including stamps and newspapers.

Westbourne Win on Waste launches

It was great to receive donations from 21 people at the launch of Westbourne Win on Waste on Saturday 25 February.  All items benefitted 4 good causes with cardboard tubes and sweet wrappers going to Westbourne Library for craft activities. Other items donated included biscuit wrappers, cleaning product items, stamps, milk bottle tops and wrapping paper.

Southbourne Win on Waste 18 February

We had 13 donors pop along to the Close Knit Yarn Cafe in Southbourne on Saturday 18 February with lots of bags of items donated for good causes.  Items included (in carrier bags) aluminium foil (4),  plastic tops (1),  milk bottle tops (1), stamps (1),  cleaning products  (1),  biscuit wrappers (1),  deodorant cans (1/4), ink cartridges (1/4), Tassimo discs (2),  greetings cards (1),  wrapping paper (1 1/2), corks (1/8), beer bottle tops (1/8), small bag of keys/padlocks, fabric scraps (2), newspapers/magazines (3), crafting stamps/magazines (6), baby food pouches (1), plant pots (1/8), CD’s (1), bubble wrap (4) and two metal biscuit tins.

Pop along to the Close Knit Yarn Cafe in Southbourne on Saturday 18 February between 10 and 11am and donate any of the following: corks, keys and padlocks, ribbons, jewellery, Tassimo coffee discs, baby food pouches, biscuit wrappers, cleaning product items and aerosol deodorant cans.  Your donations will be helping local good causes.

Canford Heath and Creekmoor Win on Waste session 11 February

There was a record turnout of donors to both Canford Heath and Creekmoor Win on Waste sessions on Saturday 11 February – 73, the most we’ve had so far.  Just as important was the fact that eight good causes benefitted from all the donations. We had a staggering amount of newspapers 32 carrier bags and 25 bags of milk bottle tops.

Canford Heath and Creekmoor Win on Waste sessions 11 February

Canford Heath and Creekmoor Win on Waste sessions take place on Saturday 11 February.  Canford Heath at the Coffee House Cafe, Adastral Square from 10-11am and Creekmoor at Creekmoor Library from 11.30am-12.30pm.

Local residents will be donating the following items (the beneficiaries are in brackets):

  • Birthday wrapping paper (Poole WWF Poole Group)
  • Rolls of wallpaper (Dorset Scrapstore)
  • Aerosol deodorant cans (for us)
  • Tassimo coffee discs & packaging (Poole Hospital Scanner Appeal)
  • Milk bottle tops (Gift of Sight)
  • Biscuit wrappers (for us!)
  • Newspapers/magazines/junk mail (Dorset Community Foundation)
  • Stamps (Forest Holme Hospice)
  • Cleaning product items (for us)
  • CD’s & beer bottle tops- for arts projects
  • Tobacco pouches and silver paper and cellophane from cigarette packets

Great start to Broadstone Win on Waste

This latest Win on Waste project, Broadstone Win on Waste is being run by Vikki Slade.  The session on the 4th February held in Broadstone Library  proved to be popular, with 16 people either donating or making enquiries about donating at a future session.  Milk bottle tops were the most popular item donated (3 carrier bags). Other donations included 1/2 carrier bag of stamps, two bags of glass jars, one bag of Tassimo discs and three jigsaw puzzles.  All the items are being donated to support good causes.  The date of the next session is the 4th March from 10-11am at Broadstone Library.

Westbourne Win on Waste launches 25 February

If you live in the Westbourne area and would like to help good causes with your waste, then save any of the following and donate them at Westbourne Library on Saturday 25 February between 10 and 11am.   If you cannot make these times, items can be left at the library on the previous day or when the Library opens at 9.30am.

  • Kitchen roll cardboard tubes (Westbourne Library)
  • Sweet wrappers – individual sweets (Westbourne Library)
  • Aerosol deodorant cans (Ideas2Action)

Broadstone Win on Waste launches 4 February

Broadstone Win on Waste launches at Broadstone Library on Saturday 4 February between 10 and 11am.  This, our third current Win on Waste project in Poole is being run by Vikki Slade.  Broadstone residents can save and donate any of the following items: any type of wrapping paper, rolls of wallpaper, aerosol deodorant cans, Tassimo coffee discs & packaging, milk bottle tops,  sweet biscuit wrappers, postage stamps and cleaning product items (empty disinfectant wipe packets, washing up liquid tops, sprays and pumps).
