Dear Win on Waste Donors – please do not store your waste

Dear Win on Waste Donors

We hope you are all keeping well.

We thought we should write now as it may be at least 3 months before we can even possibly look at re-starting the Win on Waste sessions.  So we are writing to ask you please not to keep the waste you normally save and bring to us.   Just recycle as much as you can.

We know it goes against everything we stand for in normal circumstances, but sadly these are not normal circumstances.

One reason is obviously the potential risk of any lingering contamination and the second is because we simply couldn’t cope with large amounts.  In February we received a total of 759 carrier bags of donated waste from all our sessions.  If, during April, May and June the same amount of waste each month was saved and then donated when we re-start, that would be 2,277 carrier bags.  Our volunteers, cars and the storage we use at our homes simply couldn’t cope with this.

We hope you will understand and respect this as we need to safeguard the health and wellbeing of our volunteers.  Our cars and homes too!

Finally, we are all missing seeing you at the sessions and we know that they are important to you too.  So instead of giving us your waste, how about giving us your thoughts about what the sessions mean to you. We’d love to hear from you and we’ll share these with all our volunteers, as we are sure, these will help to give them a boost.

Thank you very much for your support.

Keep well and safe.
